I have just received this updated site and see a few people I went to school with.I miss the school days we had ,as for school no I don't miss it all that much.I went to Coulwood,and wilson Jr. High Schools before going to West.I quit in my Junoir year like an idiot and have regretted it ever since.I went on to get my B.S. from the Univ.of Tenn. but it was never the same.I went into the service ,Navy , and met and married a wonderful lady from California, Sharon .I just wanted to say hi and hope the reunion goes well as I will never be a part of what you do. I don't qualify as a Harding or West Meck graduate but I did spend a few years a Wilson Jr High as well as Berryhill Elementary. I lived on the West Side out near the airport and made a few lifelong friends during a very impressionable time of my life. I think it is absolutely amazing what Harding and West have been able to do keeping the "Old Days" alive as well as continuing friendships for so many years. If my memory serves me correct there must have been a time that school boundry lines was changed . I came back a dated a girl in 1968 that was going to Harding but I do know at one time she would have gone to West from the same location she lived at. Of course we would come from cherryville duing my high school days and go to many of the same places - BBQ King, Town and Country, The Cellar, Park Center and even The Purple Penguin. I would have graduated with many of you guys in 1969 had my mom stuck around instead of moving a little west ...I really love the music of that era and some of you know about "The Friday Night Revival" on WSGE. For some of you graduates that moved away you can still listen onlline live from 6pm until 10pm every friday night by going to www.wsge.org and clicking on listen live. We play a whole lot of the great tunes from the sixties which I refer to as the West side music.. In may I will be doing an all sixties night along with DJ Ed Timberlake at Lynns Dance Club and would love to have this group come on out and party like we used too. I thnk it is May 23rd. Again, this is great what all of you have been able to sustain. Keep it up, it makes me proud to have just lived on the west side for a few years during that wonderful time. Big Ways Treasure Hunt .. .. Big Ways Birthday Parties .. hmmm ... the memories just go on and on ...

I went to Viet Nam in 1970 instead of finishing my last year at West Mecklinburg but I still see the 17 and 18 year olds in the eyes of my classmates. It does me good to see you all again. Go Indians!!!

Hey all ya'll Westside folks. Just rsvp'd for our 2009 reunion. Last yr. was my first reunion at OD and I had loads of fun, good food , music & entertainment. Saw many of my West-Meck class of 68 friends, Wilson Jr.Hi and even Berryhill neighbors. It was great seeing other classmates and their guests. ,especially my promdate, Avery Verble. My son and I live at the Outer Banks,NC and we just bought a commercial fishing boat .Wish us luck with this endeaver,as we're never shrimped-crabbed-or fished.Would love to hear from ya'll
Lookin' forward to the '09 Reunion, last years trip was sadly cut short due to a sudden death in the family so this year we gotta make up for lost time , drink a few extra beverages, meet a few extra friends, drink a few extra beverages, dance a few extra dances and one last beverage. See ya at the Beach.Cecil - WMHS '64

Hi Everyone, especially WMHS Class of '62. This was our first year to attend. My brother, Steve, was the main reason we went. What a great time. There were only 5 from WMHS Class of '62. Hope more of you can make it in 2009.
