Top Ten Reasons NOT to Attend
10. Every year the price is a whopping $30.00. Now, you realize that's a lot of
money, and for that I am only offered 3 fun-filled days of reminiscing
with some of the most important people in my life from back in my
youth ... a catered meal ... live deejays for three days and nights ...
a live, well-known band (The Embers, Band of Oz and The Entertainers)
are those who have entertained from the past...and on and on ...
Gosh, for that same $30.00, I could stay home, go to a movie and have popcorn
or Milk Duds and a soft drink of my choice ... Hmmm??? What to do??
9. Gee whiz, Wally ... I'm in my 60's (or '70s, as the case may be). Having fun is in my
past. Heaven forbid I act young again for three straight days and nights. And with
old friends I haven't seen for nearly fifty years!! What will my children
think if they find out? What would Eddie and Lumpy say?
8. I've heard about that 60's Reunion at OD for Harding and West
Mecklenburg. Someone said they have over 600 people there
every year! I'm not good in crowds. Everyone knows I prefer to
keep to myself. Why would I want to be around that many folks
who are celebrating life and the memories from the 60's ...
listening to all that great music from back in the day ... heck, I
even heard some of them still get up and dance to that stuff ...
Who could possibly enjoy doing that instead of sitting home in a
beanbag chair, eating Cheetos and watching TV? Some people!!!
7. Even if I go to this thing, no one will remember who I am.
Yeah, I've heard how they all get together and hug. Even
heard they'll walk right up to someone they don't even know
just to make new friends. I already have 11 or 12 people that
are pretty much friends. Not sure if I need more than that.
6. Actually, I knew a lot of people in school and a lot knew me. But
I wasn't "popular". What if this is just for those who were
"popular" back then? Will I fit in? On the other hand, I did hear
they email invitations to thousands every year, so they must want
everyone to join in the fun, right? Maybe even me!!
5. I've put on some weight, lost some hair, got some hair growing
where it was never meant to grow. I'll bet all of those people
who go to this thing still look like their senior pictures in the
yearbook. I'll really stand out. But, then again, maybe some of
these things have happened to them, too. Hmmm???
4. I'll bet every one of those people are doctors, lawyers,
astronauts, scientists, maybe even POLITICIANS ... How can I
possibly fit in with that kind of crowd? On the other hand,
maybe they're not. Maybe I would fit in after all.
3. Maybe I'll wait another year or two. Then I'll go. Yeah, that's
it. Who knows? This thing has been going on for many years
now. And if it's really that good, it will always be there. I mean, why hurry?
We'll all live forever. There's always tomorrow. Right?.....RIGHT????
2. They have this thing in mid-October every year. Who goes to
the beach in October? Temperatures in the 70's. Not too
cool at night. I've heard some of them actually wear shorts and
such. And since it's off-season at the beach, no big crowds to
fight like in July. Room rates are lower. Doesn't make sense. Who came up with
that, I wonder?
AND the NUMBER 1 REASON for NOT going to the Harding West '60s Reunion?
1. There's not one!
Won't you plan to attend the next reunion? We'd love to see YOU there. We're not going to live forever, so why not live today!!?
